Review: Belgian Merrell Fankhauser review
https://www.musicinbelgium.net/pl/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=13888
Merrell Fankhauser , musical genius of the American psychedelic scene of 60-70 years, lived for several years in Honolulu. This venerable hippie recently diversified its operations by adding to his playing those documentary filmmaker, in this case "Rainbow bridge revisited" . This documentary is available on DVD, distributed by Gonzo Multimedia. Label "Rainbow bridge" inevitably recalls Jimi Hendrix , as one of his last concerts in Hawaii in 1970 was the subject of a film of the same name published in 1972 ."brigde Rainbow" is also one of the first posthumous album of Jimi, released a few months after his death in 1971.
Merrell Fankhauser has therefore made up his mind to awaken the memory of the passing of Jimi Hendrix on the island of Maui in the late July 1970 for a concert made history. In fact, at the time this provision was rather chaotic, few people are pointing to the scene to this free concert, the sound hampered by a strong wind. But anyway, this concert has been integrated into a larger movie, typically in the spirit of the times, with conversations on the new age hippies, astronomy and transcendental meditation. Forty years later The documentary Merrell Fankhauser uses the same formulas, with interviews of people who appeared in the 1972 film. Young blond surfers in 1970 became nostalgic peaceful grandpas who speak of all : their encounters with Hendrix, the joys of surfing, UFOs, the continent of Mu (supposedly the Pacific version of Atlantis) or disclosure of the human mind with the stars. Many images of surfers in action away gradually the viewer of the subject, namely Hendrix in Hawaii in 1970. It is right back to the happy years babacool smelling patchouli, hashish and all illusions of youth finally caught up with the harsh realities of the modern world.
Far from being a model for image quality, framing or coherent reasoning, this"Rainbow Bridge revisited" will appeal mainly to fans of Merrell Fankhauser, with memories of Peace and Love and also to surf lovers (because as surfing, there are certainly more than Jimi Hendrix.) The documentary DVD is accompanied by a CD with the soundtrack, where there are many songs Merrell Fankhauser at various times in his career, as well as an instrumental cover of "All along the watchtower" , written by Dylan and popularized by Hendrix. Those who are less tempted by the pictures could then find solace in music from CD, stamped Merrell Fankhauser and therefore of obvious quality.

Review: MERRELL FANKHAUSER REVIEW
I'm not a film critic...I may see a dozen movies in a year if I am lucky.
The Rainbow Bridge film released in 1972 was an eccentric tale of those that not only digged the music of the iconic guitarist Jimi Hendrix but were heavily immersed into the surf scene in Maui. The combination of the music and of the rather left of center look at the UFO sightings of the day led to a film that was iconic yet not really touching the depth and genius that was Jimi Hendrix. Rainbow Bridge revisited chronicles the making of the film and the unique perspective of those involved.
Hendrix had left this planet two years prior to the release of this film and while the original film was more of a microcosm of a particular space/time continuum, the Hendrix influence upon the cultural identity of the day was the message being sent. The music is surf music with a heavy Hendrix influence by Merrell Fankhauser, The Space Patrol and Omar and The Wavespies. The DVD package comes with the 12 song soundtrack.
