T'Pau were a band formed in 1986 and drew their name from a character in the popular television series Star Trek and first came to prominence in the late 1980's when the band scored a huge hit in America with the single Heart and Soul. Although it was America that took to the band first T'Pau also enjoyed hits in the UK including a reissued Heart and Soul and China In Your hand the latter of which reached number one on the singles chart for an extended period in late 1987. The band, which included Carol Decker on vocals, Ronnie Rogers, guitar, Michael Chetwood keyboards, Tim Burgess drums and bassist Paul Jackson.
The band released a number of well received and commercially successful albums including the debut album Bridge of Spies also released in 1987 which topped the UK albums chart shortly after release of the second single from the album China In Your Hand. The band split in the early nineties and singer Carol Decker embarked on a solo music career and also subsequently went onto an acting career.
In the late nineties however Carol Decker reconvened T'Pau with a completely new line up leaving her as the only original member in the band and proceeded to record a new album and tour steadily both as a headlining act and also as support to high profile artists such as Status Quo.
This CD/DVD recording was made in 1988 was recorded at the annual Montreux Music festival. The performance was recorded at the height of the bands commercial success and includes many of the tracks from the debut album Bridge of Spies including the hit singles Heart and Soul, China In Your Hand, Sex Talk, Valentine and I Will Be With You. It also includes a performance of a then new song entitled Running Away which would feature on the bands second album rage which was also released in 1988.
A virtual live Greatest Hits CD/DVD package from the bands most successful period Montreux will appeal to the long term T'Pau fan and also newer fans.
