As the name implies there is a strong connection with that most cherished of progressive rock bands - King Crimson. 21st Schizoid was formed by former members of King Crimson in 2002 with the aim to play live the music from the earlier acts catalogue that no longer featured in King Crimson's current live performances.
The band members are Mel Collins, Jakko M Jakszyk,Michael Giles,Peter Giles and Ian McDonald. The band has played live with sets concentrating on compositions from King Crimson's first four albums and other works from band member's back catalogues. Thay have released three albums, mostly of live work, but including some new compositions. This DVD was filmed at the Schizoid's 2nd night at the Shinjuko Kouseinenkin Hall in Tokyo November 6 2002, and features 14 tracks. There are some epic tracks on here including'In The Court Of The Crimson King', 'Epitaph' and '21st century Schizoid Man'. All expertly played by these multi talented musicians. On Tomorrow's People' some excellent drumming and flute work takes place. Also, great guitar work on 'If I Was'.In the extras section there are individual band member interviews plus the recording of the official bootleg 'Volume one' and a debut performance 'At the Canterbury Fayre'. Also footage from the Queen Elizabeth Hall. A CD of thelive Japan concert is also included in the package. It's like being transported back to the early 70's and a very enjoyable listen.
