Steel Pulse - African Holocaust

Originally formed in Handsworth, Birmingham, UK, in 1975, Steel Pulse have explored a number of different styles over the years, though they are perhaps best known as Britain's premier reggae band. Signing to Island Records in 1978, they released their debut album Handsworth Revolution, featuring the hit single Ku Klux Klan, which has stayed in the band's live set to this day. The band's first release, however, was an earlier recording on an independent label before signing to the Anchor label for a short time prior to the Island records deal.

The band started out playing concerts with punk bands as part of the Rock Against Racism movement, which was popular in the late seventies. Steel Pulse have released a number of albums over the years, the key ones being Handsworth Revolution, Earth Crisis and the Grammy-award-winning Babylon The Bandit. The band was also invited to play at Bill Clinton's presidential inauguration in 1993.

African Holocaust was originally released in 1994 and was a huge success in the American album charts breaching the top ten of that year. David Hinds and Selwyn Brown remain from the band's early successful years, on this recording with David Hinds, writing all the songs and singing and playing guitar throughout. With key tracks such as Global Warming, Blazing Fire and the title track, this album was one of Steel Pulse's finest, in a career that has now extended into its thirtieth year.

This re-issue has also been re-mastered for release and will be warmly anticipated from fans of one of the world's finest reggae bands.
