The Sex Gang Children have been one of the leading lights of the Goth movement for over twenty-five years. Led by the enigmatic Andi Sexgang, the band released a number of critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums in their time together and whilst the band broke up initially in the mid-eighties they have resurfaced on occasion with new material and been involved in the re-packaging of old material
As a solo artist Andi Sexgang Has also been highly prolific away from the band releasing his first solo album shortly after the Sex Gang Children split.
His most recent album release, entitled The Madman in the Basket, which was a mix of songs and spoken word pieces was well received both critically and commercially.
Perceptions In The Heart Of Darkness is a compilation of Andi’s solo music or a kind of 'Best Of' and as such contains key moments in his career, including the duet The Hungry Years recorded in 1983 with Marc Almond. Other key tracks are those produced by Simon Boswell (Idaho and The Quick Gas Gang) and also songs that featured in the film Creepers (The Naked and The Dead, and You Don’t Know Me)
There are also tracks produced by Mick Ronson (7 Ways To Kill A Man, Assassin Years, Power Waits and Waiting For The Assassin) and a previously unreleased track, Worship In Eurasia, which features Tony James.
There is a large and devoted following for the Sex Gang Children and Andi Sexgang, and Andi also has a strong presence on the Internet, making this album a much anticipated release. This is also Andi’s first solo album in more than five years, making this recording all the more anticipated.
