John Shuttleworth is the character created by musician Graham Fellows, who has also on occasion been known as Jilted John, best remembered for his massive hit in the seventies, Jilted John.
John Shuttleworth is a completely different kettle of fish. He is a fifty-something unemployed man living in Sheffield who is fond of DIY and writing songs on his Yamaha keyboard, which are inspired by his life. John has had his own series on BBC Radio 4 and has supported bands such as Blur, making him a cult figure amongst not only fans of contemporary comedy but also music.
Its Nice Up North is the celebrated documentary filmed by John Shuttleworth and noted stills photographer Martin Parr to film the documentary in the wilds of the Shetland Isles. John and Martin deliver an amusing but at the same time honest outlook of folk up north with the adage of “The further north you go, the nicer the people are. The film received its world premiere in Lerwick in the Shetlands in October 2005 and won rave reviews from fans and press alike, not to mention the people of the Shetland Isles.
