On Sundays, for no particular reason except that it amuses me, the daily notifications are done in rhyme
 
Last night although Martin Eve came over
once again I am not hungover
does this mean I am growing up?
or just have no money to go to the shop?
 
Because although we are doing fine
I can't afford to buy red wine
in the quantities I used to until recently
which is why I'm slightly healthier, see?
 
But the big question is when my finances improve
will I just stick in this comfortable groove
or will this happen? (I think it might)
will we go back to drinking on a saturday night?
 
Quite possibly.

It has Barbara Dickson on the front cover and inside there is an interview by me in which she talks about her new album and her work with Troy Donockley, Doug goes back to 1976 and the Genesis 'Seconds Out' Tour, I critique the extraordinary new Robert Wyatt biography, and also burble on about Bob Dylan, we send the lovely Stargrace to a desert island, tell you about new Pink Fairies recordings, marvel at the intrepidness of Steve Hackett, and Xtul are on the road to Norwich, and there are shows from the multi-talented Neil Nixon at Strange Fruit and from M Destiny at Friday Night Progressive, and the titular submarine dwellers are still lost at sea. There is also a collection of more news, reviews, views, interviews and southern dibblers wearing new shoes (OK, nothing to do with small marsupials in search of snazzy footwear, but I got carried away with things that rhymed with OOOOS) than you can shake a stick at. And the best part is IT's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an old hippy of 55 who - together with an infantile orange cat named after a song by Frank Zappa puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish, and sometimes a small Indian frog. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the infantile orange cat?
